The Big 1

On September 3rd we celebrated Mia’s first birthday. As most parents are, I was filled with mixed emotions. Incredibly happy that she is a growing, healthy, happy little girl, but a little sad about the fact that time is passing so quickly, and I was already rounding the finish line of my maternity leave. The last year has been full of ups and downs, changes for myself and our family, and a lot tears both happy and sad for all of us. It easily has been the both the most amazing and the most difficult year of my life in ways I never would have expected (…but I’ll save that for another day).

Despite the looming pit in my stomach about going back to work full time, we had the best day celebrating her big birthday! A fun filled day with family and friends, BBQ, cake, Suzy Q Doughnuts, and lots of balloons! It was a record breaking, heat warning, hot September day, but that didn’t stop us from having the greatest time. It was actually the best! I’ve never loved celebrating my own birthday for some reason, but celebrating Mia’s could not have been more fun. Watching her go from a tiny, immobile baby, to a walking, dancing, four wheeler loving, feisty little girl has been the coolest thing I have ever experienced.

What a day, and what a whirlwind year. I speak on behalf of both Mike and I when I say that we absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for us, and even more so, for our sweet Mia 🙂

As always, have a wonderful day, and thanks for reading!
