Homestead Hustle

Mike and I purchased our home over two years ago now, and it has been a work in progress ever since. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this place, and will continue to forever. Everyone tells you that when you buy a house, the work never ends…and it’s true. However, the way I see it is that the more work you put into it, the more memories you make, the more proud you are to call your place home, and the more your house truly becomes a home.

We worked so hard on this house. From the demolition, to the full renovation, to choosing design details, to decor…we seriously worked our butts off. With a lot of help from family and friends, not a little help, A LOT of help. After we moved in, Mike and I had a naive thought that we would be able kick back and put up our feet up and relax a little. In a way we have, but it’s been far from relaxing. Obviously if you know me personally, or you frequent my blog, you’d know that we also had a baby during our home renovation, and as most parents know…toddlers are crazy messy, as are big, heavy shedding dogs who love being out on muddy trails, and we have both! We strive to keep our house as clean and tidy as possible, but it’s an ongoing, minute-to-minute, struggle. Also, if you’re like us and love a good house project, you’re always looking for the next update or change, so the list of “to do’s” never really ends.

All that said, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. From the bottom of my heart, I feel like we built this house together, we started our family in this home, and we are slowly writing our story…one tool belt at a time.

If anyone has any tips or tricks for staying on top of house hold chores, or cleaning hacks, or anything that helps a working mom/dad stay on top of things at home…send it on over!

Until next time!
